PARKER:Punctually at six o'clock in the evening, the telephone rings in Mr. and Mrs. Goodwin's room. The voice  at other end informs us that our car is ready for us. 

（正好在晚上六點(diǎn)鐘，GOODWIN夫婦的房間電話響了，電話那頭的聲音告訴我們接我們的車已經(jīng)到了）

We take the elevator to the lobby and find Mr.Yu waiting for us. It is my first ride into the center of Beijing. I have never seen so many old people dancing in the square in my life. I think if I could convince the citizens of vancouver to dance in the square in the evening. it would solve many of our health problems. 

（我們乘電梯來(lái)到大廳，看到于先生在等著我們，這是我第一次來(lái)到北京市中心，長(zhǎng)這么大我從沒(méi)見(jiàn)到過(guò)這么多老年朋友在廣場(chǎng)跳舞，我想我應(yīng)該說(shuō)服溫哥華市民晚上到廣場(chǎng)跳舞，這將解決我們很多健康問(wèn)題）

we drive down at a long wide street past Tian'anmen Gate and the Great Hall of the People. It is almost dark when we draw up before Hongbinlou. which Mr.Yu informs us means " House for Honoured Guests"  

（我們沿著又長(zhǎng)又寬敞的大街行駛通過(guò)天安門和人民大會(huì)堂，當(dāng)我們來(lái)到鴻賓樓前時(shí)天黑了，于先生解釋鴻賓樓“意思是接待貴賓的地方”）

We are ushered up the steps and into a gracious room with a large round table at one end  and a smaller one with chairs around it near the door. Li Wei and three gentlemen are waiting there for us.

(In a louder voice , to the others) Gentlemen. I'm very pleased to introduce our Canadia friends... This is Mr. John Goodwin, President of Pacific Swimwears Indusries.

and This is Mr. David Parker, Mr. Goodwin's sales manager in the export division.

last-and certainly far from least-Mrs. Emily Goodwin who has come to Beijing with her husband but is really here on her own business. She is the West coast manager of the Hudson's Bay Company. one of Canada's largest merchandizing chains. Mrs. Goodwin has come to purchase some of our textiles and ready-to-wear clothing,

Now, Mr. Goodwin is an old friend of China. He's been here many times since 1990s, when he came as a student, I hope and I am sure you'll join me in the hope. that their stay in China will be rewarding.

This is Mr.Su. He is the vice-President of China National Textiles import and Export Corporation.

HAIRDRESSER: Good morning. Madam.

MRS. GREEN: Good morning. I made an appointment by telephone.

HAIRDRESSER: May I ask your name, Madam?

（請(qǐng)告訴我您的名字 女士）

Mrs. GREEN: Green. Mrs.Green.

（格林，格林女士）

HAIRDRESSER: Let's see. I really must get some new glasses. oh. yes. that's right, Mrs. Green. 11 o'clock. we're just a little behind this morning. Would you mind taking a seat for a monent? I won't keep you long. Cup of coffee while you're waiting?

（我看看，我真需要換一個(gè)新的眼鏡了，噢，對(duì)，是的。格林女士，上午11點(diǎn)，今天早上我們理的有點(diǎn)慢，您請(qǐng)坐一會(huì)兒，您不會(huì)等太長(zhǎng)時(shí)間，請(qǐng)喝杯咖啡吧？）

MRS.GREEN: Oh, yes, please, I've heard such wonderful things about this place.

MRS.GREEN: Right.

HAIRDRESSER: Here we are. just sit down here. please.

HAIRDRESSER:Oh. no!

Mrs. Green. What on earth's happened to my hair? It's green!

HAIRDRESSER: I'am terrible sorry. Madam, It must be this new shampoo.

（非常非常抱歉，女士，這一定是新的洗發(fā)水）

MRS. GREEN: Let me see that. This isn't shampoo! look! it say here,"make your hair permanently green".

（讓我看看，這不是洗發(fā)水，看，這寫著“使你的頭發(fā)永久變綠”）

HAIRDRESS: I though it said."Make your hair perfectly clean".Anyway. you're certainly Mrs. Green Now.

（我認(rèn)為它說(shuō)“讓你的頭發(fā)徹底洗凈”）無(wú)論如何，你現(xiàn)在真是GREEN女士了。
